About Dr. Robert Eppley
Since completing his postgraduate medical education, Dr. Robert
Eppley has earned numerous accolades for his skills and achievements. A
gifted surgeon, he serves as the longtime Primary Orthopaedic Surgeon
for Athletics at the University of California, Berkeley; as the Chief of
Orthopaedics of U.C. Berkeley’s University Health Services; and as
President of California Sports and Orthopaedic Institute, Inc., in
Berkeley and Orinda, California. Selected by his peers for inclusion in
the Best Doctors in America from 2001 to 2011, Dr. Robert Eppley also
earned a listing in “Whom Would You Recommend to Treat Your Family?” and
“Bay Area Best Doctors” in San Francisco Focus Magazine for 11 straight
years.
Dr. Eppley has also garnered acknowledgement in Oakland
Magazine as a “Best of the East Bay” and in San Francisco Magazine as
“One of San Francisco’s Top Doctors.” The Sunday Magazine of the San
Francisco Chronicle named him a Super Doctor, and he garnered national
mention as one of the Best Doctors in America and in a listing of Top
Doctors in America as well. Additionally, Robert Eppley, MD, won
Patients’ Choice awards for orthopaedic surgeons from 2008 to 2011, and
the global Who’s Who Top Doctors lists him as its only Berkeley
orthopaedic surgeon.
Possessing expertise in knee and shoulder
arthroscopy and open surgery, Dr. Robert Eppley performs anterior
cruciate ligament (ACL) and patellar ligament reconstruction;
rotator-cuff tendon, acromioclavicular, and meniscus repairs; and
repairs of the clavicle and humerus. Robert Eppley, MD, also executes
partial and total knee and shoulder replacements, reverse shoulder
replacements, and humeral-head resurfacing.
Dr. Robert Eppley
received his MD with honors at Case Western Reserve University. He
completed an internship and residency in General Surgery, a residency in
Orthopaedic Surgery, and two fellowships: one in Total Joint
Replacement at New England Baptist Hospital and the other in Sports
Medicine at Southern California Orthopedic Institute. Dr. Robert Eppley
enjoys keeping active in his spare time and appreciates spending time
with his family.
